if an iphone has no cell service, but is near wifi, will it still work?
What I mean is will my iphone be able to make calls using the internet if it has no cell reception?

I wanted to know if i were to get the iphone, would it work without the telephone service, by that i mean could i listen to music, look at pictures and stuff, i will get the phone service eventually, but i want to find a job first so i can pay for the service once i got a job. But anyways until then will the iphone work?

I do not wish to sign up with any cellular provider. I would like to buy an iphone from somewhere like eBay or amazon used, then download maybe an app or two and be able to use it for free after that. Will this be possible and if so what type of iphone would I need and what apps would be recomended? or what do I need to get my ipod touch to do it?

I want to buy iphone 3G in US. But they usually sale it with AT&T phone service. I don’t want to use phone service. I just want to buy Iphone and use this like a entertainment stuff( I don’t need to contact buy cell phone). Will the apple store sale it to me without phone service? Thanks.

I jailbroke my iphone 3g, which was running firmware 3.1, in the process of which I lost all of pictures, contacts, apps, etc. But these are all saved in a backup file. However I think that if i restore the iphone normally it will overwrite the firmware and it won’t be jailbroken anymore. Is there any way that I can restore it from backup without restoring the firmware?
Does that make sense?

I have t-mobile and despretely want a iphone 3g. Can i get one from apple without getting service from att. I can get my credit checked just to pretend that after i buy the iphone i will get service from att. Is that possible?
I know that u cant unlock it right now but eventually someone will get a unlock code for it.

By that I mean the internet (I dont need the phone service).
BTW i had seen info this morning on a morning show that said ppl can use their iphones without the phone service (and I dont mean the ipod, calc, or cam) I just mean internet.
