Will my iphone work without cell service?

if an iphone has no cell service, but is near wifi, will it still work?
What I mean is will my iphone be able to make calls using the internet if it has no cell reception?

No, you can only email and internet over wifi. You must be on network to call or text.

i believe there are iphone versions of some voip clients out there? so, if you do have the application on the phone – such as skype, you can place a voip call through wifi. yes, your iphone can place voip calls through wifi provided you have the application installed.

Internet is for web browsing email and such.
It does nothing what so ever for making calls or sms. Those depend on your cell service provider.
